You can’t beat independent thinking.

You can’t beat independent thinking.

That’s why I look at advice through the eyes of a skeptic.

Does it:
-- Oversimplify complexity
-- Bias based on a limited perspective
-- Have a hidden agenda

Often you’ll find one or more of these present.

So, ask yourself, does the advice:
-- Offer diverse perspectives
-- Consider context and application
-- Declare the advisors bias and agenda

Buyer beware!

Look for data based evidence of effectiveness, not just inspiring stories and outlier case studies.

And think about how any advice aligns with your goals and values.

What's really going on

“ … all of us hold on tightly to many things we don’t really have.” This line from Patrick Rhone’s book - This Could Help - got me thinking about our attitudes toward pipelines, relationships, and services.

Think Different

I love it when there's a seemingly Unreasonable Agenda. The Apple Think Different campaign epitomised this. Just look at the change makers: Albert Einstein: Questioned absolute space-time. Bob Dylan: Reimagined song meanings poetically. Martin Luther King Jr.: Envisioned equality beyond segregation. Richard Branson: Ignored business conventions fearlessly.
