That deal you thought was a sure thing?

That deal you thought was a sure thing?
↳ Ghosted.

That client who’s always a drain?
↳ Still painful.

That proposal you poured hours into?
↳ Radio silence.

It’s easy to get stuck in your head replaying.

⇥ What you did.
⇥ What they said.
⇥ What it all means.

But here’s something that helps me zoom out:

“𝙒𝙝𝙮 𝙛𝙧𝙚𝙩 𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙮 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚?
𝙎𝙚𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙚 𝙗𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧;
𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙩 𝙞𝙨, 𝙬𝙖𝙩𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙛𝙡𝙤𝙬 𝙗𝙮.”
- Shibayama, 1970, P261

That looks like pink and fluffy Zen right?
Until you realise ...

The tree doesn’t chase the water.

It stays rooted.
It watches.
It lets it pass.

And you?

You showed up.
You did the work.
You gave a damn.

That’s enough.

Not everything needs fixing.
Not every outcome is yours to control.

Sometimes, the strongest move is to be still.
Sometimes, the smartest choice is to let go.

Be the tree.
Let the river pass.

Useful?

What's really going on

“ … all of us hold on tightly to many things we don’t really have.” This line from Patrick Rhone’s book - This Could Help - got me thinking about our attitudes toward pipelines, relationships, and services.

Think Different

I love it when there's a seemingly Unreasonable Agenda. The Apple Think Different campaign epitomised this. Just look at the change makers: Albert Einstein: Questioned absolute space-time. Bob Dylan: Reimagined song meanings poetically. Martin Luther King Jr.: Envisioned equality beyond segregation. Richard Branson: Ignored business conventions fearlessly.
