What separates champions from the rest?

It’s not just talent - it’s something deeper.

Stuart Browne wrote about his experience joining Warrington Wolves Rugby League team at their pre-season training camp. He draws out some interesting questions about the parallels between elite sports and business. Highly recommended reading.

It made me think about coaching.

Those that know me will have heard me say people who most benefit from coaching are the ones who would win anyway … without a coach.

The secret to coaching success.
Find the clients who would win anyway.

That is, of course, easier said than done.
But there are clues.

🔥 𝗧𝗵𝗲 6 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀:

⇥ Drive.
⇥ Desire.
⇥ Discipline.

⇥ Standards.
⇥ Relentless.
⇥ Commitment.

These six traits came to mind reading Stuart's post.
Same qualities as in elite sports. And entrepreneurial experts.

Most people aren’t truly driven.
↳ They want jobs handed over.
↳ It’s very easy to see it.
↳ Just look around.

Ask yourself:
⇥ Who is hungry?
⇥ Who is using their initiative?
⇥ Who welcomes accountability?

💡 Leaders
↳ Spot these traits and bring these people on your team.
↳ They’re the game-changers.

💡 Experts:
↳ If you want to be a champion, no one is stopping you - except you.

Stuart’s post has rekindled my interest in modelling peak performance.

What's really going on

“ … all of us hold on tightly to many things we don’t really have.” This line from Patrick Rhone’s book - This Could Help - got me thinking about our attitudes toward pipelines, relationships, and services.

Think Different

I love it when there's a seemingly Unreasonable Agenda. The Apple Think Different campaign epitomised this. Just look at the change makers: Albert Einstein: Questioned absolute space-time. Bob Dylan: Reimagined song meanings poetically. Martin Luther King Jr.: Envisioned equality beyond segregation. Richard Branson: Ignored business conventions fearlessly.
