Many consultants fear setting stretch goals.

They worry they'll fail or over-commit.

Here's how you can do it and succeed.

#1 Inspire yourself.

Ambitious targets push you. They inspire greater effort and creativity. So, don't settle for easy wins.

Set yourself up to achieve more than you think is possible.

#2 Stretch goal.

Choose something you want to achieve. Decide how you will push the limits. Commit yourself to go further.

Now you need to JFDI!

#3 Into action.

Break stretch goals down into manageable steps. Track your progress. Celebrate each milestone reached.

Revise your plan if needed.

#4. Embrace failure.

You may not hit the mark every time. The effort is worth it though. Find out what you're capable of.

Learn from any setbacks

#5 Improve.

Stretch goals drive growth. Challenge yourself to be better than you were yesterday. Notice how your capabilities improve.

And prepare for the surprise.

What stretch goals have you set for yourself lately?

Bob Dylan: Reimagined song meanings poetically. Martin Luther King Jr.: Envisioned equality beyond segregation. Richard Branson: Ignored business conventions fearlessly.
